Veneers

Ever wonder how movie stars have such perfect white teeth all the time? The answer is Veneers.

Veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials that cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. These thin shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, and even length.

Veneers Are Used To Fix:

  • Discolored teeth
  • Worn down teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Misaligned, uneven, or irregularly shaped teeth

The Procedure For Veneers:

The process is simple. To prepare a tooth for a veneer, your dentist will shave down about 1/2 millimeter of enamel from the tooth surface. Next, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and send it off to the lab. The lab then creates a perfect tooth out of porcelain and sends it back to the dental office within 1-2 weeks. The veneer is then cemented to the front of your tooth and boom! You've got a beautifully shaped tooth. The best part is that you can pick the color and it'll never change!

Advantages of Veneers:

  • Beautiful natural look
  • Gum tissues responds well to porcelain
  • Stain resistant

Disadvantages of Veneers:

  • Process more expensive than resin bonding
  • Not repairable once they chip or crack
  • Higher chance of sensitivity once due to removal of enamel
  • Teeth with veneers can still experience decay potentially requiring to be covered with a crown
  • Veneers are not a good choice for individuals with unhealthy or weakened teeth or those with active gum disease

Veneer Life Expectancy and Care:

Veneers usually last between 5 to 10 years and need to be replaced after.

Veneer Costs:

Because it's a cosmetic procedure, the cost of veneers is not generally covered by insurance. Veneer costs range between $600 to 1,200 per tooth.
